Anyone who’s read (and enjoyed) the books will love this movie. It moves much faster than the first (in my opinion) and “Bella” doesn’t have her mouth hanging open as much! (A peeve of mine – 90% of the time Kristen Stewart’s mouth is hanging open. I think she must have really bad allergies. It still annoys me. I think she’s a very pretty girl and an ok actress but the wide open trap bugs.)

I do feel the insta-love Jacob feels for Bella is a little too…instant. It did feel a little more built up in the book but I guess not alot. And they do a good job of showing how depressed Bella gets and her slowly coming out of it after forming a friendship with Jacob.

And for some reason people were complaining because they leave the end open for the next one. Duh. I guess they haven’t read the books

A friend’s girlfriend who I don’t know said they left something major out. I have no idea what it was. So obviously I didn’t notice it.

My 1 complaint – I think the CGI werewolves look terrible. They put me in mind of the wolfy thing in The Neverending Story – which is approximately 20 years old, well before the CGI advances we have now. I hated the wolves. Either use CGI to make real wolves look big and like they’re interacting with the other characters or have people dressed up as wolves for the scenes. It just looked bad.

Esther’s a 9 year old orphan adopted by Kate and John, a well-off couple who have 2 other kids and lost a baby while pregnant due to some never fully explained accident having to do with Kate drinking and their little deaf daughter falling in a lake. It’s not clear if daughter is deaf because of the accident or was prior but it’s not important.

Pretty early off Kate starts thinking there’s something not quite right with Esther – and if you’ve seen the trailer you know she’s right. Kid’s a murderous psycho.

And there’s the end. The trailer promises it’s shocking and you’ll never guess. Well, I’m pretty dumb and was watching with someone who’d had the end spoiled and shouted it out not quite midway through. I was right. Oops, guess I’m of the .1% they don’t count in that “you’ll never guess”…except pretty much anyone’s who’s ever seen a thriller and has a brain will probably at least start to kinda think of it.

Still, good movie. I’d never buy it or probably even watch it again – far to long – but it was a good rental.

3 people who don’t know each other – an “older” male doctor (they act like he’s in his 40’s but I bet he’s only in his early 30’s), a female college student, and a “young” man (they give the impression he’s high school age but he’s covered in tats and there’s no way his face is that of a teen) get stuck in an elevator in their abandoned apartment complex over 4th of July weekend. If that isn’t tense enough, 1 of them’s actually a serial killer and said person starts acting pretty twitchy early on. I don’t know if it was supposed to be a big shock which one would be the killer because if so, they did a terrible job keeping it secret.

I couldn’t get into this because it felt unbelievable. They’re in the elevator like 4 hours before they even try to pry open the doors, even longer before 1 of them climbs on top of the elevator and attempts to climb up the shaft, and they proceed to hang out until hour 19 before another attempt is made! And wouldn’t there be some sort of safety access along the side of the elevator, somewhere up by the walls in a modern building? There’s only a shaft. And a super un-safe looking 1 at that.

And the building manager would get sued because there’s no actual emergency call – somewhere around hour 5 or so after the 1 who climbs out falls back in and jars the elevator, a looping auto-voice comes on assuring them techs are aware of the problem and will assist shortly. Apparently the loop goes for a while because it comes back in several hours later as it kinda dies. And the building is HUGE. But they only have 5 families in it – all of which are out of town except the 3 in the elevator.

To many plot holes. It annoyed me.

Despite being a fan of both horror and crime/mystery, I’ve never seen this thriller. So since Netflix jumped down my list and sent it, I now have.

I didn’t like it as much as I would have thought.

The idea of someone murdering following the 7 deadly sins in interesting although at the back of my mind, based on what Criminal Minds, CSI, Law and Order, and various thrillers have told me, I kept wondering why no one questioned the likelihood that the killer wouldn’t stop after 7 murders. I suppose it could be said the end of the movie takes care of that since he had a plan to get himself off – but shouldn’t one of the detectives at least have questioned that?

I have a soft spot for Leland Orser, who played “Crazed Man in Massage Parlour” and was on the screen for all of 2 minutes, so I liked that. The rest was just kinda meh for me and not as amazing as many told me. I was a little let down.

It kept me entertained. Good for an almost Halloween movie. It’s filmed alot like The Blair Witch Project, all hand-held camera. A young couple has been having paranormal activity in their home and the boyfriend bought a camera before the movie starts to film it and the movie follows them as the activity gets worse. They call in a psychic early on who tells them he can’t help them because it’s a demon, not a ghost and refers them to a demonologist they don’t call until it’s too late.

Most of the movie is fairly predictable though I did get a few good jumps. The ending will be seen a mile away but since it is almost Halloween, it’s still fun for a full theater experience – most of the fun we had watching it was hearing audience react, especially the weird kid in front of us who laughed way to loud at something not that funny and made most of the theater laugh at him.

Oh! Warning though! Like I said, this movie is filmed on handheld camera – without a tripod. It made me motion sick. I’m not kidding. I felt like throwing up a good hour afterwards. Oddly enough, my friend who saw it with me is prone to motion sickness and was fine so I don’t know what’s up with that.

A college-age geek, known only by his hometown “Columbus”, is one of few survivors after zombie apocalypse. He goes on to meet “Tallahassee”, a tough as nails hick, and sisters “Wichita” and “Little Rock”. The sisters are trying to get to a theme park in California they went to as kids they’ve heard is zombie-free. They also manage to swindle the men out of their vehicle and weapons. Twice.

It’s a hilarious movie with no scares but LOTS of gore and a cameo from Bill Murray. And it not only made me crave twinkies but also convinced me if zombies take over and I’m not in the first wave to be taken out, I’m hunting down Woody Harrelson, who played Tallahassee, because he was a BAMF!!!

I’ve never really gotten into zombie movies which is weird because I do consider myself a pretty large fan of horror movies. The only “zombie” movies I’ve seen are the 28 Days/Weeks Later movies – and the true zombie horror movie fans will argue until they turn blue those aren’t true zombie movies for various reasons.

So at the suggestion of another horror film lovin’ co-worker, and since both this and the remake are available for instant watch on Netflix, I watched this.

I chose the original…for some reason. I’m glad I did. It’s in black and white and some how that kinda adds to the scary feel throughout the movie. The zombies aren’t rotting flesh variety and only have minimal makeup (this movie had a tiny, tiny budget) but it comes off looking really good. The music is atmospheric and I might try to hunt down the score.

And the ending. Since the movie is 30 year old, I’m gonna spoil it. I LIKE that it’s not a happy ending. Our “heroes” (if they can even be called that, not a one’s really heroic except to some extent Ben for coming up with plans but his plans ended up not being so great so…) ALL end up dead. It looks like Ben might make it out and BOOM, he’s shot in the head by the zombie hunters making the assumption he’s a zombie after surviving the whole night. Now that, Alanis, is ironic.

Is it weird of me I found Barbara’s brother to be pretty hot after he became a zombie? Yes? Well, I never claimed to be normal.

First off, I gotta say right off the bat I think this movie’s getting a bad rap. I LOVED it! It’s got the same snarky humor as Juno (it’s written by the same writter) with blood and guts! Megan Fox does a great job as queen bee bitch (although I kinda think she’s not acting alot on that front) and Amanda Seyfried is an awesome heroine as her nerdy, lifelong bff “Needy”.

There’s not much I can really say without giving everything away. The trailers kinda mis-sell this movie. Yes, Jennifer’s evil but there’s a reason behind it. And in the end, Needy does chose whether to face-off with her and end up the only one standing between Jennifer and the rest of the town. And the ENDING! Is cool.

Honestly I think the only reason so many people are saying it sucks is because their hormonal teenage boys who thought Megan Fox was going to get naked. And she never gets any more naked than she does in the trailers. So naturally it must suck.

If you like dark humor and quasi-horror movies, you’ll enjoy this.

Obviously I didn’t go into this movie expecting something amazing or award winning. My brother was having over several teens his age to watch a football game and my sister and I needed something to do out of the house.

I was surprised though. We were both fairly entertained and while we didn’t guess from the get-go who the killer was, thanks to a few red herrings, we got it and yes, their logic is crazy and stupid but it could be worse. Rumer Willis does pretty good as the “nerdy” sorority sister Ellie (we know she’s nerdy because she wears glasses, see. Hollywood hasn’t gotten a clue in the last few years. Meanwhile I actually kinda wanted her huge nerd glasses) and there are a few other sisters you give a crap about. Unfortunately the only name I remember is Cassidy, the other “good” girl sister. There’s one who’s such a bitch I don’t know why they put up with it. I think she might have been sorority president so that’s probably why.

Audrina Patridge of The Hills is in about 5 minutes before she’s killed in a sorority prank gone wrong which is what starts the whole plot. They convince her boyfriend he’s roofied her and killed her and they’re going to hide her body and while the girls are getting their giggles he panics and actually stabs her with a tire iron. So they hide her body and 8 months later start getting text messages relating to the murder and then some of them start getting killed.

You’ll enjoy it if you don’t expect something awesome. Just good, cheese entertainment.
